Dr. Neema Stephens is a board certified Nephrologist and Internal Medicine physician with 20 years of experience in the health care industry. She joined Cigna in 2016 and became Cigna’s National Medical Director for Health Equity in 2020. Her leadership is focused on driving education and interventions to address social determinants of health and reduce health disparities among the communities we serve. As a member of the Enterprise Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, she collaborates with stakeholders across the enterprise to influence business and clinical strategies and drive health equity initiatives.

Prior to joining Cigna, Dr. Stephens was a faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

Dr. Stephens earned her medical degree from McGovern Medical School (University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston). She completed Internal Medicine residency and Transplant Nephrology fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine.
